Catherine Desjardins is a psychotherapist and the mental health team director at the Centre Francophone de Toronto, a community health center serving the francophone community of Toronto. The first 10 years of her professional career were spent as a psychologist in private practice in Montréal. Concerned with the life balance challenges of mental health professionals, she was the director of the Centre de Psychologie René Laennec, where continuous training and peer support were at the heart of her mission. For the past decade, her work has involved helping clients from numerous Francophone speaking countries suffering from post traumatic stress disorders. Most recently, she developed an interest in the areas of vicarious trauma and compassion fatigue. Catherine is a gifted speaker who lectures on compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma and chronic stress in French.
