The online program that trains you to train others in managing high-stress, trauma-exposed work.

Since 2008, TEND has trained hundreds of professionals to design and deliver their own secondary trauma and empathic strain workshops within an agency and as part of their own independent business.

Well-trained educators are vital for improving organizational health, increasing staff resilience, and ensuring sustainable education throughout the years.

Four Weeks of Interactive Learning

Each week, dive into advanced topics relevant to high-stress, trauma-exposed professions. Explore best practices, assess your strengths and vulnerabilities, and learn how to refine your message.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Individuals who wish to acquire the tools and skills to educate others on the basics of empathic strain/compassion fatigue and secondary trauma. Past participants of this program include professionals from healthcare, education, legal fields, policing, military, government agencies, public health, advocacy, animal welfare, and many others.

Yes. The instructor teaches this program with the assumption that you are familiar with the concepts of empathic strain (also known as compassion fatigue) and secondary traumatic stress.

If these concepts are new to you, not to worry. All participants of the Train the Trainer Program will be given access to our Compassion Fatigue 101 on-demand course. This online course must be completed prior to beginning the Train the Trainer Program. (If you have already completed this online course, you do not have to re-do the course – however, you are encouraged to review the material).

You will also review the basics of trauma-informed care prior to beginning the Train the Trainer Program. These materials will be made available to you upon receipt of your course fee or non-refundable deposit.

We encourage all participants to set aside 4-hours of protected time prior to the beginning of the Train the Trainer Program to review the introductory material.

In an effort to facilitate meaningful discussions, you will be assigned to one of two groups for the weekly Q&As. This helps to keep the group size small and to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to contribute. Every effort will be made to ensure that you are grouped with members from similar sectors or professions.

Both groups will attend the final Q&A session at the end of the program.

If you have a schedule conflict with one of the Q&A times, please note this when submitting your registration form or contact Jennifer, our Training Support Lead. Participants will be notified of their assigned Q&A time at least two weeks in advance of the beginning of the program.

You will require a reliable internet connection, a microphone, and webcam. Participants will also need to be comfortable using the online program Dropbox to access materials for this program.

We reserve the right to cancel this course should the number of registrations be insufficient. We are not responsible for any costs that may be incurred by the cancellation of this course.

In the event that TEND cancels this program, all course fees including deposits will be returned to participants.

  • If you choose to cancel your registration on or before 8 days prior to the beginning of the course, you will receive a refund of your course fee minus the registration deposit of $500.00 CAD + Tax. This deposit can be put towards a future program.
  • If you have already received the materials for this course prior to cancelling, you will be responsible for this cost ($250.00 CAD + Tax)
  • No refunds will be issued on or after Tuesday, July 2, 2024. A colleague may attend in your place.
