Lori Tomalty-Nusca


Lori has worked in the helping professions for over 30 years. Her experience stems from working with children and families as a staff educator, Parent Therapist and Early Childhood Resource Specialist at McMaster Children’s Hospital in Hamilton, ON. 

Lori’s helping career began as a registered Early Childhood Educator and Resource Teacher, working in the community with children with special needs and their families as part of the ECISS -Early Childhood Integration Support Service. She then trained at the clinical behaviour sciences program at McMaster University as a Child Life Specialist. Lori now works as part of McMaster Children’s Hospital as part of the developmental paediatrics team. 

She studied at York University in the Children’s Mental Health certificate program, and moved to working as a Parent Therapist, Early Childhood Resource Specialist and Staff Educator in Children’s Mental Health and Developmental Pediatrics at the Ron Joyce Children’s Health Centre. As a behavioural specialist, Lori has co-authored many parenting groups and is certified in the Family Check Up & Everyday Parenting strength-based family management intervention program, and Circle of Security Early Intervention program.

Over the years, Lori has provided training in compassion fatigue to hundreds of human service providers.
