About TEND

We provide training and resources that support helping professionals to understand and address the natural consequences of working in stressful, and trauma-exposed environments.

The name TEND was chosen to represent our work because it means to care for, attend to, or serve. We TEND to the helping professionals who care for others.

The terms helping professional and caring professional are used to describe those whose role it is to help, care for, or protect others. This includes healthcare professionals, first responders, correctional workers, emergency communicators, lawyers, judges, counsellors, therapists, teachers, funeral professionals, animal care professionals, customer service representatives – and so many more.

If your job is to help others – whether that be through treatment, counselling, advocacy, public safety, volunteering, community outreach, or customer service – you are a helping professional.

Our Services

Our goal is to understand your needs, the work you do, and what your team or organization are experiencing.  With this knowledge we work to create and deliver the training or resources that will have a positive and lasting impact.

We offer:

Custom Training based on the topics outlined in our Custom Training Catalogue. Training is delivered in-person, virtually as an on-demand recording or a keynote address.

Intensive Programs are designed to empower you by teaching the best practices that you can use as a champion or leader within your organization.  The Train the Trainer program, Debriefing and Mutual Support program and the Trauma-Informed Practice program are all offered either virtually or in-person or can be delivered in-house to a group within your organization.

Continuing Education Webinars are designed for past participants of our Train the Trainer Program and individuals with advanced understanding secondary traumatic stress and the impacts of trauma-exposed work. Each session takes a deep dive into a new topic and you can register for a new session each quarter.

The TEND Roadmap to Organizational Health helps workplaces map out a path toward a healthier organization by inviting staff to share their experiences, the challenges they face, and how supported they feel at work. At the end of this program, we create your Roadmap Assessment Report with recommendations to help you reach your organizational health goals.

The TEND Toolkit is an online library that houses hundreds of courses, articles, instructional videos, book recommendations and articles.  The Toolkit is an effective complement to training as it provides an ongoing way to access resources that support individual and organizational health.

The CARE4YOU Conference is held virtually each year in June and offered free of charge.

Our training addresses the natural impacts that working in a high-stress, trauma-exposed workplace can have. The most requested topics we cover can be found in our Custom Training Catalogue.

Yes. All of our trainings can be delivered in French. However, our capacity to do so is limited by the availability of our French speaking presenters. If you require a French or bilingual presentation, please get in touch well in advance of your preferred presentation date.

We also offer some of our most popular resources in French.

Virtual Training

All our training can be delivered virtually.

Zoom. We have found this to be most accessible and reliable platform for our clients.

Here is an outline of the process:

  • The first step is to connect with us to coordinate the details of your virtual event including date, time, presenter, and topics.
  • Our team will send you a Zoom link for you to distribute to participants. Participants use this link to register for the live event. Once registered, participants receive an email with instructions to access the live event as well as a series of reminders.
  • On the day of the live event, a TEND Team member and the TEND Trainer will be available on the webinar to assist with any technical issues. While we do our best to help when we can, that there may be times when we are unable to assist due to issues outside of our control (e.g., firewall protections, hardware issues, poor internet connection). If you have access to your own IT team, we suggest connecting with them before your event to ensure smooth sailing.

Absolutely – in fact, we encourage it. Our priority at TEND is ensuring that the content of your virtual training is appropriate and meaningful to your people’s needs. After a training agreement has been signed, the TEND Trainer will contact you to arrange a 30-minute “Meet the Trainer” call.

Our standard trainings can host 500 participants.

We can accommodate larger groups – however, an additional fee may be necessary to cover the increased capacity. Just tell us what you need and we will find a solution that suits you best.

For two reasons:

1. We have found that participants are more likely to engage when the session is not recorded.

2. To ensure respect for the privacy of our clients and participants of our virtual trainings. You can learn more about our commitment to privacy here.

Note that the recordings that are provided to your team following a live event are pre-recorded versions. These sessions were recorded without an audience and, therefore, are not specific to any one profession or organization.
